New Euphorium Bakery Cafe @ Angel, Islington

2002年にロンドン・イズリントン（Islington）界隈に引っ越してきてから、ずっとお世話になっているeuphorium bakeryの新しいカフェが、Islington Greenの向かいにオープンした。路上マーケットのひしめくチャペル・マーケット（Chapel Market）にある小さな店から始まって、今はエンジェル（Angel）に３軒、べルサイズパーク（Belsize Park）に１軒、ハムステッド（Hampstead）に１軒と、順調に店舗数を増やしているようだ。カウンターには、アッパー・ストリート（Upper Street）店で焼いた、フレッシュなクロワッサンやパン、スィーツ、サンドイッチが並ぶ、週末は行列ができるほど。店内は、ベージュやライトブラウンなど暖色系を基調に、モダンにまとめられており、奥の階下にも、リビングルームのように暖炉とソファをしつらえた居心地の良い空間が広がっている。横壁面の一面ガラスドアは、気候が良い間は開け放たれ、オープンカフェのようにもなる。このIslington Green店が私たちの最寄りの店となるので、重宝しそうだ。

A new addition of the euphorium bakery just opened in front of Islington Green. Since we moved to Islington, London, euphorium bakery is our regular lunch place in Angel, where strangely lacks of cafes with good sandwiches. Started from a tiny store on busy Chapel Market with outdoor vendors, now euphorium expands their business to 5 bakeries/cafes in one of the most stylish areas in London, 3 in Angel, 1 in Belsize Park, and 1 in Hampstead. Croissants, bread, sandwiches, and sweets at the counter are all freshly baked at Upper Street premise, and people queue up on weekends to get their delicacies. The modern interior based on warm colors like beige and brown make yourselves relax, and there is an extra space downstairs on the back of the premise, with fireplace and sofas. The side of the cafe was covered with glass door and the space becomes like a open cafe when the weather is good. This Islington branch is our closest and will be our perfect place to have a cup of tea (and espresso for M).
