Lantana Café @ Charlotte Place, Fitzrovia

トッテナム・コート・ロードのGoodge Street駅から程近くにあるカフェ、Lantana（ランタナ）。オーストラリア出身のオーナーが経営する、コーヒーが評判のお店。Monmouth Coffee Companyの豆に、最高級品のLa Marzoccoのエスプレッソ・マシーンを使ったコーヒーはもちろん、フレッシュな材料を作ったサンドイッチも、ちょっと甘いものが欲しい時にぴったりのfriand（フィナンシェ：オーストラリア、ニュージーランドでは呼ぶ）も、美味しい。温かみのある店内も、居心地よし。

ロンドンで美味しいコーヒーが飲めるカフェは、やっぱり、最近増殖しているダウン・アンダー系だなあ（→Sacred Cafe・Nude Espresso・Dose Esporesso・Kaffeine・Caravanのエントリー参照）。彼らの健闘により、オーストラリアやニュージーランドから約5年前に上陸したばかりの、人気のダウンアンダー名物・フラットホワイト（Flat White：カプチーノに似ているけれど、エスプレッソを２杯分＝２倍使う）の人気が、うなぎ上り。英大手コーヒー・チェーンのCostaやStarbucksでも販売されるようになり、カプチーノの売上げを凌ぐ勢いなんだそうだ（参照記事）。

Lantana is a café popular with their good quality coffee, located near Goodge Street station / Tottenham Court Road. Australian owner creates the café to attract coffee lovers. Not only coffee, made with top quality coffee beans from Monmouth Coffee Company and upscale La Marzocco espresso machine, but their sandwich with fresh ingredients and teeny tiny down-under favorite friand are also very tasty. The interior of this Aussie-style café is cozy and cheerful as well.

Recently down-under cafés have been growing in London, and they generally serve a very nice cup of coffee. Due to their popularity, down-under speciality Flat White, looking like cappuccino but using double dose of espresso, is overtaking cappuccino, just 5 years after their launch from Australia and New Zealand.
