Wilton Way Café @ Wilton Way, Hackney

Before we went to the Hackney Service Centre, we had lunch at Wilton Way Café on Wilton Way, as its name suggested, just few minutes walk from the Centre. Opened in late 2009, the café still keeps traditional storefront with previous shop’s name. Hosting to a local digital radio station London Fields Radio, the interior of the café is cute and pop, mixing industrial steel and brown wood as well as 1970s style colorful lampshades. We got wall side seating but there was no table, and then we realized that the fruit crates with wheels underneath the benches would become extra stools or tables – great idea!

The coffee is made with beans roasted by another local, Climpson & Sons on Broadway Market. Their foods, using good quality ingredients from reputed grocers such as Brindisa and Neal’s Yard Dairy, is as good as their coffee. It is great to relax at outside tables when sunny – only if you are lucky enough to grab one of them.
