Grab Thai Street Kitchen @ Old Street

バンコクの屋台で食べられるような「Thai street food」が謳い文句の、タイ料理のファースト・フード／テークアウトのお店・GRABが、オールドストリートのLeonard Streetにできた。白壁に木を基調としたインテリアに、赤いプラスティックの椅子が並ぶキュートな店内では、これまたキュートでフレンドリーなタイ人のお姉さん方が対応してくれる。メニューは、おなじみのパッタイ、レッドカレー／グリーンカレー、ヤムウンセン（春雨サラダ）、トムヤム・ヌードルスープなど。フードは全てその日に調理されたもので、翌日に持ち越さないからいつも新鮮。ファーストフードのお店にしては、少し値段が高いかな？という気もするけれど、ボリュームもあるし味は悪くない。パッタイはそこそこだったけれど、グリーンカレーはなかなかいいお味。縦長の紙製容器は、底に残った料理を食べる時に手が汚れるのが難点か。辛めの料理には、適度な甘さの豆乳や、チャー・イェン（コンデンスミルク入りの赤茶色のタイ風ミルクティー）と一緒に。タイ料理店なのに、エスプレッソもある。

GRAB is a Thai café / takeaway specialising in “Thai street food”, the kind of street food you would find around the streets of Bangkok, and it opened recently on Leonard Street in Old Street. Cute and friendly Thai girls welcome you when you enter in this cute place with white walls, light wood furniture and red plastic stools. GRAB offers you familiar Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, Red Curry, Green Curry,  and Tom Yum noodle soup etc. Food is cooked fresh on the premise and nothing is left over night – plus 10 points! You can have mildly sweetened soya milk or Cha yen (Thai iced milk tea with condensed milk) for spicy Thai food. The dishes may be a bit pricey as a fast food, and it was hard to reach for the food on the bottom of its tall paper container, without making my hand dirty – minus 5 points.
