7月27日〜9月16日まで、テート・ブリテンで開催されていた「Another London: International Photographers Capture City Life 1930-1980」展。随分前に観に行ってブログに書こうと思っていたら、いつの間にか終わっていた。よって、今日のブログは自分用の覚え書きです。
Another London展は、ビル・ブラント、アンリ・カルティエ＝ブレッソン、ロバート・フランク、ドラ・マール、アーヴィング・ペン等、各国からイギリスに来た著名写真家たちの目を通じてロンドンをとらえた写真180点を展示。対象は、真珠層で飾られた服を着込んだpearly kings（パーリーキング＆クイーン）や赤いバスといったイギリス名物や、乞食から上流階級まで、リアルな人々の暮らしを撮影したものまで様々。これらのモノクロの写真は、第二次世界大戦前から1980年までの間の、多様で活気に満ちたロンドンの姿を垣間見せてくれる。人々の顔、ファッション、建築、ライフスタイルなど、私が知らない時代のロンドンと今の街の姿を比べるのも面白い。見逃してしまった方、ウェブサイトの写真で我慢してください！ →Tate Britain / the Guardian
I saw the Tate Britain‘s “Another London: International Photographers Capture City Life 1930-1980” (July 27 – September 16) a while ago, but I forgot to write in this blog and it’s over now – sorry… Therefore this is just a record for myself.
Another London brought together the 180 London’s cityscapes between 1930 and 1980, through the eyes of some of the world-renown international photographers, including Bill Brandt, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Dora Maar, and Irving Penn. Their subjects were varied from British icons such as red buses and pearly kings to urban life of real people from beggars to riches. These black & white photographs showed us diverse and vibrant London life during the period, and it was very interesting to see London’s past before we came to live here, and to compare how it was and how it is now in lifestyle, faces, fashion, architecture and more.
