アート雑誌・Friezeの発行者が主催する、Frieze Art Fair（フリーズ・アート・フェア。10月14〜17日）は、毎年10月にリージェンツ・パークで開かれる国際現代アート見本市。世界各国から約150の現代アート・ギャラリーが参加し、期間中約68,000人が訪れる。見本市と言っても、来場者全員がアート関係者やバイヤーではなく、その80％はアートを鑑賞しにくる人たちで、フェアはロンドンの文化的エンターテインメント、または社交の場ともなっている。
ギャラリーのブースの他、Frieze Projectsが委託したアート作品が展示され、Auditoriam（写真下）ではアーティストなどのトークやイベントが行われる。また会場はかなり広く、歩き疲れた来場者が一休みできるよう、美味しいパンで有名なGail’sや、寿司カフェのMoshi Moshi、レストラン＆シャンパン・バーのHixも会場内に設置されている。
Frieze Art Fair is an international contemporary art fair that takes place every October in Regent’s Park, organized by the publishers of frieze magazine. Frieze Art Fair features more than 150 contemporary art galleries in the world, and attracts around 68,000 visitors. The purpose of the fair is selling work, but 80% of its visitors attend just to appreciate art and it has become also a London’s cultural entertainment and social event.
As well as gallery exhibitions, the fair also includes selected artists’ work commissioned by Frieze Projects, a talks program and an artist-led education schedule held at the Auditorium (photo below). The space is quite big and easy to get exhausted, but don’t worry. There are Gail’s serving beautiful pastries, Moshi Moshi sushi café, and restaurant & Champaign bar (of course, Champaign!) Frieze Projects作品の一つ、カルティエ・アワード2010受賞者で、日英ハーフのSimon Fujiwara（サイモン・フジワラ）の作品「Frozen」。会場の地下から架空の古代都市が発見されたというコンセプトのインスタレーションで、メディアでも取り上げられた（FT記事）。
