Milk Bar, located across Lorelei restaurant I talked in the past, is a sister café of SOHO’s popular Aussie venue Flat White. It is as crowded as Flat White, and we could get a table after few failed tries. Going through kitsch red/white/turquoise vinyl strips hanging at the entrance, you see dark and cozy space with dark wood furniture and the walls decorated with art works and some sort of objects. On the day we went, most customers were alone, reading, working, and typing computer, and the café was pleasantly quiet. But if you are unlucky, you may have to sit next to a bunch of noisy young people – it is probably more likely in the center of bustling SOHO.
You should order coffee, rather than tea, at Milk Bar, as well as Flat White famous for its excellent coffee made of beans from Square Mile. I usually order a cup of tea at a café, but opt to choose flat white at an Australian/New Zealand café. I like flat white, but also now I feel guilt to order my previous favorite drink cappuccino, especially in an Italian café, because M told me that cappuccino and latte are for breakfast and people don’t drink in the afternoon in Italy. I can drink espresso, but it tastes better with some milk for me, but not for M – he believes coffee with milk nauseates him for some reason…
